Hot Air Ballooning was a late 18th century invention that was all the rage in Europe with the well to do. The early balloons went up without tethered and were completely at the whim of the wind. Yet, great minds believed with effort, a way could be derived to propel the balloon the direction desired. A very early piece on air flight.
