1769 Pulpit Bible
****I have these in early stages of binding. They can be customized to your desires. ***
This replica of the Oxford printing of the King James Bible is a referred to as a "Pulpit Bible" due to its size. Measuring 10" x 15" and 2 1/2" thick, this larger print Bible was made to be a permanent part of a church and sit in a place of honor on the pulpit to be used during services. This Bible is printed by modern presses and once had a modern cover. We have stripped the modern cover, sewn it to cords and completely rebound using 80% of a whole calf hide. The leather was hand dyed and finished with triple coatings of egg glaire before a hot tools polished the glaire. This process is precisely how binders in the 18th century finished out a book. The endsheets are marbled with a pattern called "English - Common" and very popular mid-18th century.
